Cancellation & Make-Up Lesson Policy
This is the policy I'd be particularly careful with. Private music teachers are being paid for reserved teaching time, so you don't want unlimited make-ups every time someone has hockey, dance competition, a birthday party or vacation.
Student Absences
Your lesson time is reserved specifically for you.
If a student is unable to attend a scheduled lesson, we ask families to provide as much notice as possible.
Lessons missed by the student are not refundable.
Make-Up Lesson Allowance
Students enrolled in ongoing weekly lessons are eligible for up to four make-up lessons per teaching year for student-requested absences, provided at least 24 hours' notice is given.
Make-up lessons are subject to instructor and room availability and:
- are limited to four per student, per teaching year;
- are not guaranteed at the student's regular day or time;
- may be scheduled with the student's regular instructor or another appropriate instructor;
- must be used within 60 days of the missed lesson; and
- have no cash or credit value.
Once the four make-up lesson allowance has been used, any additional student absences are considered missed lessons and are not eligible for a refund, credit or make-up.
Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice or missed without notice do not qualify for the make-up lesson allowance.
Less Than 24 Hours' Notice / No-Shows
Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed without notice, are considered used and are not eligible for refund, credit or make-up.
Illness
Students who are unwell should not attend lessons in person.
Where possible, the instructor may offer a virtual lesson instead. If sufficient notice is provided, the regular make-up policy may also apply.
Instructor Cancellation
If Music @ Rugcutterz or the instructor needs to cancel a lesson, the family will be offered: a make-up lesson or a lesson credit.
A family will not lose a paid lesson because an instructor was unavailable.
Weather / Studio Closure
If Music @ Rugcutterz must close because of severe weather, building issues or another circumstance outside its reasonable control, families will be notified as soon as possible.
Where practical, lessons may move online, be rescheduled or receive a credit.
